Every picture has a story whether its personal or historical. Our story starts with a view close to home in Surry County, North Carolina. Pilot Mountain was originally named Jomeokee(which means “great guide”) by Native Americans.
This georgous location has many historical stories to its name. One of them being that it was also known as Mount Pilot as it was referred to in episodes of The Andy Griffith Show.
Pilot Mountain is a stunning landmark that has guided centuries of travelers and traders, from nomadic Native American tribes seeking food and shelter along the Yadkin River to Moravian immigrants establishing a new home in the Carolina backcountry.
Pilot’s most distinctive features are its two pinnacles, Big Pinnacle and Little Pinnacle. Accompanied by the variety of trails within and around the state park. It leaves much to see and explore.
